Gamma Rays

Gamma rays are generated in nuclear explosions. They are electromagnetic waves that have enough energy to kill or damage living cells. Also their energy ranges from millions of electron volts, to thousands of electron volts. Since they have such dangerous energy, gamma rays are used with the advantage of killing cancerous cells. That is why they are used in hospitals. While learning about this topic, I found it very interesting that gamma rays are used in hospitals to kill cancerous cells that could prove harmful for patients. This topic was very helpful in understanding what gamma rays are and what they are used for.
